Interview with Michael Rasmussen from Alien Force

How did Alien Force Begin?

Michael..

The band Alien Force developed out of an earlier New Wave band called No Rape that started in 1980 and played various gigs in Copenhagen in for instance. Ungdomshuset on jagtvej, Christiania and Stengade 30.

Michael and Henrik both were working at the youth club "Kennedygården" on Østerbro in Copenhagen.

As a part of their development, the music became more and more hard hitting and there was added a stronger vocal (Peter Svale), rythm guitar(Michael Venzel) and a steady bass (Michael Østerfeldt) as the concept became very different from what it was, the band was called Alien Force in ´82-´83.

Michael..

It was fantastic and fun to play together again. The songs again had a fresh and spiced up energy so it was really something else.

Did the concert give ambitions for more? and was the vibe on stage as good as it was in the fans?

Michael..

Time will as told earlier show if there will be more from Alien Force.

The concert at The Rock with Artillery made it an awesome night for us. To be on stage again after so many years and hear all the fans singing along...it was fantastic. We didn't expect the positive and uplifting emotion...we could definitely feel the vibes from the audience.. It was Amazing and thank you for that...to everyone that was there.

Why did Alien Force break up?

Michael..
There were many reasons for the break up, but after many years of playing gigs, studio work, promoting of the records, ect...and well with normal jobs on the side with family and kids, there was a point where you stop and have a good look at what's going on and make some decisions.
So when it comes down to it, it's probably a development you can't stop. The personal growth that was going on caused that we grew from each other and wanted to try something new.
The personal growth became more and more clear when the harmony in the band was gone, we ended up disagreeing a lot and when we saw that it over shadowed us playing music, there was only one thing to do...break up.

Michael..
After the break up in 1990 Alien Force has not played together. Some of the members continue to play in other bands, so it was first after the re-release of the LP's, both on cd and once again on vinyl that there has been mention of meeting up again. It was in relation to the re-release of Hell and High Water on vinyl, that we were put up to playing a concert at "The Rock" in Copenhagen. After that concert, that ended up being an awesome, positive night we had again the desire to go in the studio again to try out some ideas.
As of right now there are 4-5 songs in the making, that relay all the inspiration, that we have gained in the years apart. If it will end up being a new release, only time will tell...but right now, we don't have any plans.
